- 2030 Agenda
IOM has been operationally present in Albania since 1992, and the country became an IOM member state in 1993. Over the past three decades, IOM has evolved into a key international partner for the Government of Albania (GoA), actively supporting the country's migration governance priorities aligned with its strategic goals for European Union integration. In Albania, IOM works closely with all stakeholders to engage in multi-level interventions and implement comprehensive solutions that address the multifaceted nature of migration. To ensure well-governed migration, promote regular migration, increase the sustainability of returnees, and guarantee the protection of migrants' rights—especially those exposed to vulnerabilities—IOM's mission in Albania operates under the Country Strategy for the years 2022-2025.
