The Kingdom of Sweden joined IOM as a Member State in 1990. Since 2011, IOM Finland has overseen activities and operations in Sweden, which include Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) for victims of trafficking, economic reintegration assistance for voluntary returnees, and the resettlement of refugees to Sweden.
IOM's Sub-Regional Office for the Nordic Countries in Copenhagen is leading IOM’s resource mobilisation functions towards Sweden government for IOM’s global engagement.
