Brussels Workshop to explore improving access and quality to health services for migrant and ethnic minorities

25 September 2015 -- The EC-funded project “Training packages for health professionals to improve access and quality of health services for migrants and ethnic minorities, including the Roma (MEM-TP)” will hold a Dissemination Workshop in Brussels on the 2nd of October 2015 at the Borschette Centre in Brussels. The goal of this project is to review, develop, test and evaluate training for health professionals to prepare them to better care for these population groups.

The workshop is being organized by the Andalusian School of Public Health, the Migration Health Unit of the IOM Regional Office Brussels, and the European Public Health Alliance.

The event will take place on the 2nd of October 2015 in Borschette Centre in Brussels, and is financed by the European Commissions’ Health Programme 2008-2013 and managed by the Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA)and the EC DG for Health &Food Safety.

After a review of the migrant and ethnic minorities’ situation in the EU, and the existing training programmes and materials in the field of migration and health, the workshop participants will consider the new MEM – TP training package and its piloting, and then suggest ways to disseminate the new training package and incorporate it into relevant training programmes. Representatives of the governmental sectors within the EU MS, Ministries of Health and training institutes will be involved in trainings on a later stage.
