IOM Helps Stranded Pilgrims on Ukraine-Belarus border
Some 1,500 Hasidic Jews are stranded in southern Belarus, as COVID-19 regulations have prevented them entering Ukraine to visit holy sites in the city of Uman. IOM Belarus, in partnership with the local Red Cross society, have rushed humanitarian aid to the border checkpoint at Novaya Guta. Hundreds of women, children and elderly people are among the pilgrims, and are facing difficulties as temperatures become cooler. The aid delivery included personal protective equipment, tents, sanitation and hygiene supplies for women and children. For more information please cntact Olga Borzenkova at oborzenova@iom.int.
