Reporting on COVID in Central Asia
Central Asian countries have seen unprecedented population movements since the outbreak of COVID-19 one year ago. The region is highly dependent on migration and remittances, with the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan the main destinaitons. Many Central Asians work in seasonal or low-skilled work, and became vulnerable when their jobs became unsustainable. IOM has helped thousands to get home, in cooperation with the governments.
